Kangaroo Island is located off the coast of southern Australia and is a 30 minute flight from Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia. Affectionately referred to by the locals as KI, the island is renowned for its spectacular scenery and unique flora and fauna. Kangaroo Island is the third largest Island off the Australian Coast
Kangaroo Island is the third largest Island off the Australian Coast. It is approximately 160 km's long and 60 km's wide. Special conditions are unique to Kangaroo Island - there is no public transport or taxis. To see the Island highlights, visitors need to either drive themselves or take a coach or 4WD tour. To travel to and from the Island, visitors can either fly, or take the passenger and vehicle ferry "Sealion 2000" from Cape Jervis to Penneshaw.
Kangaroo Island remains one of Australia’s (indeed the world’s) last unspoilt wilderness areas. Seal Bay is unique in the world as a venue where guests can walk amongst wild seals and view their natural behaviour, including suckling their pups. The Island’s ecology is rare in Australia, due to the natural environment being untouched by the ravages of introduced species which have now become pests on the Australian mainland. Therefore the native bushland and scenery exist as they did hundreds of years ago. Wildflowers in season ... Read More...
