General Information
Designed for body, mind and soul, Aquila Retreat is architecturally stunning and designed to work naturally with the climate.
Aquila Retreat has been carefully positioned to align with the sun and take advantage of abundant natural energy sources. Windows, courtyards, terraces and wide verandahs welcome light and work with the seasons so that it is cool in summer and warm in winter.
Built in a contemporary style it sits comfortably in its hillside environment, capturing the serenity of the landscaped gardens that provide shelter from the outside world, a setting that opens up only to capture the background of spectacular views.
It's a healthy house, build of plantation and selected untreated hardwoods and local stone. Floors have been naturally oiled and non solvent paints have been applied throughout. The harmonious colour schemes create a friendly atmosphere which is further enhanced by the open plan design.
Rooms radiate from a central vaulted meeting place so there is space for guests to be as social or as private as they choose. Enjoy breakfast, a house specialty, in the warm morning sunshine on the deck. Sip pre-dinner drinks at sunset as the coast lights up on the horizon. Relax in the ambiance of the garden setting for morning and afternoon tea or meet with other guests in the central lounge or on a deck.
Aquila Retreat offers choices. With 300 square metres of verandahs and balconies, there is plenty of space for privacy. There is also communal space where guests can get together and share stories over a freshly brewed coffee or a meal in a friendly atmosphere.
Aquila Retreat: not just a bed and breakfast, but a holiday house in harmony with nature.
The spacious private rooms have been designed to give every guest a share of the glorious views. Rest peacefully in handcrafted queen size beds and wake to the call of the whip birds who have made their home in the enveloping garden paradise.
